I love words. I love beautiful, descriptive language. I do not, however, like beautiful, descriptive language that does not make sense. Fortunately, I love to rectify the situation.
I live for the details. In school, I thought diagramming sentences was fun. Spelling bee champion? You bet. I can spot two spaces after a period when there should only be one—nowadays, that is. Don’t even get me started on the Oxford comma.
Your story is safe in my hands. I believe strongly in preserving the author’s voice. Good editing focuses on removing distractions so that readers can immerse themselves in the story.
I have edited newsletters, blog posts, resumes, and employee handbooks, as well as innumerable business and legal documents. But books are by far my favorite, particularly women’s fiction and memoirs. I love to read about a woman’s journey and the choices she makes. I also enjoy historical fiction, contemporary fiction, and a good suspense novel.
I am a member of American Copy Editors Society (ACES), Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), Association of Independent Publishing Professionals (AIPP), and Women’s Fiction Writers Association (WFWA).
Besides reading, my other interests include music, theater, travel, painting, dancing, yoga, and walking in nature. I have lived in seven different states but happily call California home.
So, what’s your story? Let me take care of the details. Because words matter.
